A little about me
This is a short version of how I found my way into product, communities, and building things.
- Growing up
Sonipat, then Gurugram
I was born and brought up in Sonipat, Haryana, and later moved to Gurugram.
- 2017–2021
Engineering, maths, and a change of direction
I studied mechanical engineering at NIT Kurukshetra, but it never interested me much. Maths did. Looking for a career that used it led me to machine learning around 2018–19, then deep learning and natural language.
I enjoyed the maths, but realised I didn’t want coding to be the centre of my career. I started looking for what else I could do.
- In college
Trying to build something
I tried starting a mental health venture. Really, it was a college project with first-time mistakes and very little understanding of how a company worked. It fell apart.
I also started Crework: a community for people who wanted to learn by building projects and meet others who wanted to do the same.
-
Finding product at Jar
My first job was as a product analyst at Jar. It was my first real look at how a startup works: the scale, the decisions, and the product itself. Landing in product analytics turned out to be a lucky route into product management. Crework continued alongside it.
- Also in 2021
Finding my people online
I started being active on Twitter. Almost all my friends today, and every job opportunity I’ve had, came through people I met there. The connections I made online, including on LinkedIn, also brought people to Crework.
- 2022–2023
Bangalore, and learning together
I moved to Bangalore in 2022. Meeting so many people there changed my life. At Houseworks, I spent about a year and a half as an associate product manager, working on internal tools for cancer care.
Alongside work, we turned Crework into free, mentored cohorts. People spent four to six weeks building projects together, then used them to find jobs. Many did. I’m still very proud of that.
- 2023–2024
Going full-time on Crework
I left my job to build Crework Club into a school for product builders. We eventually focused on helping people switch careers into product management. Running a business was something I once couldn’t imagine doing.
About a year later, we shut it down. Between a changing AI landscape, competition, gaps in our own skills, and our financial decisions, we couldn’t make it work.
- Since 2024
Product at PICKUP Coffee
I joined Shuru, a tech and product consultancy, and began working as a product manager with PICKUP Coffee in the Philippines. There’s more about that on my Work page.
Still learning, still making things
I keep building small products, reading, and occasionally writing. AI is changing quickly, and I’m trying to get better at working with it. Honestly, I’m trying to catch up too.
